SADC- SAFOD Meeting in Botswana, Gaborone

On the 19th July, 2007, SAFOD sent a delegation  to SADC offices in Gaborone, Botswana, to collect information. Aim to learn from SADC that disability issues can be taken on board at SADC level. It has been a dream for SADC to engage with SAFOD on the same. Desk for disability issues in the SADC Offices seem not to be forthcoming. This is a concern as disability movement because there is need for heads of state to address disability issues at that level as a priority in order for development to take place.

Entry points for SAFOD to engage with the SADC are:

a)    SAFOD national assemblies to link with and be part of the SADC National Committees especially the Social Development Department. Once the member states approves them at national level, SADC will approve and mainstream at that level
