Zimbabwe to host 3rd AfriNEAD Symposium

Zimbabwe has been directed to host the 3rd African Network for Research-to-Action in Disability (AfriNEAD) symposium from 27 - 30 November 2011

The 3 day Symposium with the theme, “Building Communities of Trust: Evidence-to-Action on Disability Research” will be held in the resort town in Victoria Falls. Hosted by the Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD). AfriNEAD and the Stellenbosch University, the Symposium is expected to draw more than 200 delegates comprising people with disabilities, researchers, academia policy makers and disability activities.

SAFOD are pleased to co-host this important meeting that deliberately focuses on building research evidence in disability. Without the research evidence, it is difficult to advocate for the mainstreaming of disability in all spheres of development planning especially at nation level.

The symposium to be addressed by leading advocates in disability, will present latest research on a range of disability issues including policy implementation disability rights and inclusion. Alongside the Symposium will be nine side workshops on poverty development process in Africa creation, economic empowerment, health HIV and AIDs, community based rehabilitation, holistic wellness, gender, land water food and facilitation, research evidence and children and youth with disabilities.
