Aims and Objectives
1.
SAFOD
is a regional network of
independent civil rights organisations of disabled people in Southern
Africa;
2. SAFOD
supports and encourages the formation of
organisations of disabled people in Southern Africa and strengthens existing
ones;
3. SAFOD
promotes training of personnel and leaders
of organisations of disabled persons;
4. SAFOD
promotes and uplifts the status of children
with disabilities in the region;
5. SAFOD
promotes and coordinates development efforts
and self-help projects among disabled people and their organisations in the
region;
6.
SAFOD
promotes, supports and complements government policies and programmes in
favour of disabled people in Southern Africa;
7. SAFOD
facilitates exchange of information in the field of disability through
public education programmes, seminars, travel and exchange, conferences,
assemblies, journals and other publications concerning all aspects of the
lives of disabled people;
8. SAFOD
affiliates and cooperates with other
international organisations in the region who share its objectives and whose
activities and approaches are developmental in nature.
